I was inspired by this house's missing pieces and the stories
they told...
The house was barely visible through a yard of unkempt alders...
An old store still stocked sat precariously on the cliff...

Sadly, the real house is gone,
but I was able to save some of it in this old can...

Through the windows a tidy kitchen is visible, still full of the things that make a house a home...
I was impressed at how square and proud the main portion of the house still stood stood...

I could almost still smell the old fellow's thoughtful puffs of pipe smoke in the air...
I always feel a pang of heartache when iconic and beautiful architecture is taken away from us...

On a rusted shovel and a bed of coal, this Cape Breton home tells the story of two different paths...
Sitting in a hollow, near the end of a back road, I’d long thought this barn to be abandoned...
The old church in the woods
deep in Guysborough county is now long gone...

My wonderful partner's grandfather used to make miniature wooden dorys, and fished from a real one...

A forlorn fishing boat sits in the weeds next to the highway near an old boat breaker's yard...

This little abandoned Radio Shack is a far cry from the ones I grew up with in the local malls...

Up in Cape Breton there’s a lovely spot called Little Narrows with a very little, very narrow garage...

I have driven past this oddly tall henhouse many times, and still never seen the oddly tall chickens...

It was very old, very crooked, and doing its best to sink quietly into the ground...

Though the loft was still full of coils of rope and netting, the upper level was now on the ground...

A little leaning shack I found on the Annapolis Valley’s North Mountain....

I always wonder what amazing bits of history may still lurk behind old wooden garage doors...

I made this for a family friend so she can go back to her mum’s house whenever she wants

This shack has had many lives - an outhouse, chicken coop, toolshed, its just waiting for its next chapter...

This little boat has been sitting on the gravel for a few years now - still hopefully awaiting it's repairs...

There wasn't much left standing, but I loved the way the light played through it's collapsing structure...

Sometimes its not buildings that catch my eye, like this rusty motel sign that was hiding in the trees...

This outhouse with a message was found on the way to a hidden fossil beach...

My ship -on-a-bottle was inspired by the many derelicts that used to line the harbourville shores...

This tiny place near the waters of the south shore looked like a windy spot to sit and contemplate...

Just up the road from my home is this tiny cottage, hiding away in a clump of alders...

An old privy behind the barn inspired this piece, my wife named it for me! :)
